2nd place with The Shadows and Their Master.The shadows pull at me,
dragging me into their dark depths
showing me the monsters that exist.
I run, only to be chased
and caught again.
Held still for there master
who wishes to devour me
as a treat.
He tells me how sweet my flesh tastes
how sour my blood is
as he drinks it down.
He rips off bits of my flesh and muscle
forcing me to watch as he chews
my head held still by the shadows
His sharp teeth sink into my flesh
he catches the blood with his tongue
still alive he drags me away
to finish me another day.
He traps me in a shadowy cage
occasionally coming back for a snack.
I see the bones of his other victims
chewed clean of their flesh
laying in the cage around me
I know I am to meet the same fate.
I’ve given up crying for help
I don’t even scream when he tears my flesh
I’m used to the pain now.
I’m used to the shadows
tossing my leg bones around
soon it will all be over
soon I will meet my delicious fate.
soon my blood will be drained
my bones picked clean
3rd place with Nothing Will Escape    Lyla awoke in an endless darkness. She couldn’t move or speak. She remembered nothing. Faint moan-like voices could be heard in the background. For what seemed like an eternity she remained there in the darkness, unable to move and utterly confused. Then, Lyla’s eyes flutter open in a dimly lit room. She was startled by the hideous creature just inches from her head. It had an unfortunate green complexion with skin that only covered half its face, the rest was flesh and bone. Its breath smelled of all things rotten. “Ah my little princess, awake at last.” it said with a hiss. Lyla lunged at the creature, but her limbs wouldn’t budge. It was only now that Lyla realized that she was held in place by faceless shadows. “What am I doing here?” Lyla managed to croak. “Oh?” it asked inquisitively, “You don’t remember? Well, you put up quite a fight, had to knock you out with a rock I did.”  Each wo
